....Eco Development and Joint Forest Management

FOREST PROTECTION AND ECODEVELOPMENT COMMITTEES OF SUNDARBAN BIOSPHERE RESERVE

On the basis of the experience of peoples' participation in forest management in Southern West Bengal, Forest Deptt. issued Govt. Orders facilitating the formation of Forest Protection Committees (FPC) around the Reserved/ Protected Forests, and Eco-Development Committees (EDC) around the National Park and Sanctuaries of Sundarban region also. Till now, 52 FPCs and 14 EDCs have been registered.

Joint Forest Management in Sundarban Reserved Forests of India

Like the forests in other parts of the State, Govt Resolutions have also been issued for adoption of Joint Forest Management in Sundarban Reserved Forests of India . The Resolutions provide guidelines for formation of Forest Protection Committees and Eco-Development Committees and implementation of development activities within and outside the Forest Areas.
